In-Situ Concrete Wall

Compile Australia has developed a trenching machine to construct a cast in-situ concrete wall, generally in cantilever, so that basement excavation may be achieved.

The trenching machine is attached to a 40tonne track excavator and controlled by an excavator operator.

Concrete is poured into the trench excavated directly behind the trenching machine auger to form a permanent and stable concrete wall. The high-strength concrete mix contains steel fibres and is designed with a very high slump so that vertical reinforcing bars may be inserted into the poured concrete as the machine progresses.

The in-situ concrete wall is 300mm thick and is intended as a permanent load-bearing structural component, the exposed finish of which will be determined by the soil conditions e.g. the presence of rock and tree roots etc.

It is usual that an inner leaf of brickwork or similar is constructed for aesthetic purposes and to provide an air cavity for damp proofing.
